Working with Query Analyzer

The build in Query Analyzer is a handy tool for user to query the database without leaving the SQLSourceSafe. The Query Analyzer will send the query statement to the SQL Server database that configured in the connection wizard.

The Syntax Colored Editor in the Query Analyzer is a powerful editing tool for SQLSourceSafe user. The syntax colored text gives user a great readability. The following figure illustrated the legend of the tool bar.

When a Check Syntax button is clicked, the syntax of script in the Script Pane will be checked. The result will be displayed in the Messages Pane at the bottom of the window. When Run button is clicked, the returned result of the query will be displayed in the Grids Pane and/or Messages Pane at the bottom of the window. You can open multiple Query Analyzer windows at any time. Each window has a unique window number on the title of the window.

To Access Query Analyzer, you can:

• Click the Query Analyzer button on the toolbar
• Select Database from main menu, then select Query Analyzer
