Compare Database Items

There are two ways to show the difference of one item:

Showing the differences between the latest version in Visual SourceSafe and the current item in SQL Server database

To compare the object script in SourceSafe and in SQL Server Database, you can:

Right click the item in the SourceSafe Pane, then select Show Differences from the context menu; or
Highlight the item in the SourceSafe Pane, then select SourceSafe/Show Differences from the main menu

To show the difference of two versions of a database item in Visual SourceSafe, you can show the item history by right clicking the item then select History from the context menu. In the Item History dialog box, highlight the two versions that you want to compare, then click on Diff button on the dialog box (See Figure 2). The complete list of the two sets of the script is listed as shown in Figure 3. The deleted lines are displayed with pink background, the changed lines are displayed with yellow background and the added new lines are displayed with green background.
