Manage Database/Database Category History


SQLSourceSafe provides history management at the folder level that is either the database category or the entire Visual SourceSafe project. The history of all database objects under the selected folder will be displayed.


To access to folder history, choose SourceSafe\History from main menu or right click on the category or project on the SourceSafe pane and then select History from the context menu. The system will open the History Option Dialog box prompting user to specify search criteria to filter the search result. The search/filter options are: starting time (From), end time (To), and the user account in Visual SourceSafe (User). If all fields are specified, only the changes made by the specified user during the specified time period, for the database objects under the selected category or project will be displayed.

The next screen shows the history result based on the search option.

From the Folder History Dialog, you can perform actions either for an individual database object or for all objects under the category or project. The database object actions are:

  1. View code for the selected database item - highlight the version for the database object that you want to view in the list box and click on the View button.
  2. Retrieve code for a database item from an earlier version - highlight the version for the database object that you want to retrieve in the list box and click on the Get button.
  3. View database item details - highlight the version that you want to see the detailed SourceSafe information and click on the Detail button.

 

The aggregated folder actions are:

  1. View item status for the selected folder - highlight the version for the database category or the entire project that you want to view in the list box and click on the View button. The status of all database items under the selected database category/project will be displayed.
  2. Retrieve code for the entire folder from an earlier version - highlight the version for the database category or the entire project that you want to retrieve in the list box and click on the Get button. The code for all database items under the selected database category/project will be retrieved. This function works for labeled version only.
  3. View folder details - highlight the version that you want to see the detailed SourceSafe information and click on the Detail button.
