Create a New Connection Using Connection Wizard

To create a new connection, choose File\New Connection from the main menu.

Connection Wizard allows you to create a new connection in two easy steps.

Step 1 SourceSafe Configuration

You may name your connection whatever you like in the Connection Name field. Then you need to enter the path of SourceSafe Database INI file, your username and password in SourceSafe database. You can click on the … button on the right of the field to browse for the Visual SourceSafe Database INI file and open it from the Open File dialog box. The SourceSafe Project Name field is a read only field. You can’t enter anything directly.

If the path of Visual SourceSafe Database INI file, Visual SourceSafe username and password are entered correctly, click on the … button on the right of the SourceSafe Project Name field. It will bring up the Choose VSS Project dialog box (See Figure 2). In the dialog box, all SourceSafe projects are listed. Projects created by SQLSourceSafe 2.0 are displayed with icon of red folder. If you want to create a new project on Visual SourceSafe database, select the folder where you want to create the new project. If you want to open an existing project, you can highlight the folder icon and then click on the OK button.  The selected SourceSafe Project Name field is filled automatically.
