About this release
SQLSourceSafe 2.1 is an upgrade release from version 2.0 with introduction of Query Analyzer, a tool similar as SQL Query Analyzer in SQL Server, fixes for bugs reported in release 2.0, and some enhancements.
Changes from release 2.0 to release 2.1
- Introduction of Query Analyzer, a SQL script development tool that allows user to edit, execute, and view results of SQL scripts, similar to SQL Server’s SQL Query Analyzer. This tool enriches SQLSourceSafe’s capability for developers to work directly with SQL Server objects.
- A critical fix to a reported bug in release 2.0. The bug prevents users from adding new SQL objects into Visual SourceSafe under certain machine settings.
- Wording changes in pop up window when Visual SourceSafe project name does not match SQL Server database name.
- Addition of menu items and toolbar icons for Query Analyzer.
- Help file changes for Query Analyzer’s feature.
- Help file changes on how to label a collection of database objects and retrieve the entire set of objects associated with a particular label.
Who needs this upgrade?
- The bug preventing some users from adding SQL objects into Visual SourceSafe occurs under some machine settings. As a precautious measure, all users currently using SQLSourceSafe 2.0 trial version and SQLSourceSafe 2.0 licensed version should get this upgrade.
- All users using SQLSourceSafe 1.0 trial version, SQLSourceSafe 1.0 licensed version, SQLSourceSafe 1.1 trial version, and SQLSourceSafe 1.1 licensed version should consider this upgrade, as release 1.0 and 1.1 is based on Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0, and this release is based on Microsoft .NET Frame work 1.1, and release 2 offers much richer set of functions than release 1 does.
