Entering Database Connection Information
The first step in using SQLDBCompare
is to set up the database connections and select database items to compare. The
following steps need to be repeated once for both Database Object 1 (in the
left pane of the main application window) and the Database Object 2 (in the
right pane).
Select Server and Database
These three steps need to occur in the proper order:
- Click
on the drop down arrow of the SQL Server1 drop down list. A list of
available servers appears. Select the server. If the server is not listed
in the drop down list, type in the server name in the SQL Server1 drop
down field.
- Select
the connection authentication mechanism. To use Window’s authentication,
check the checkbox titled “use Window Authentication,” otherwise, leave
that checkbox cleared and enter the username and password in the
corresponding fields.
- Click
on the drop down arrow of the Database Name drop down list. A list of
available databases appears. Select the database.
- Repeat
the above steps for Database Object2.
