Comparing database schemas’ at the object type level is to compare an aggregation of database objects as a whole. There are four database categories supported in SQLDBCompare: stored procedures, tables, user defined functions, and views. Users can choose to do the schema comparison for the entire database or a particular object type. If the database is chosen, all four database categories will be compared.
The first step is to select the object as the comparing objects:

Figure 1 Select Objects to Compare
If the two object types are different in the two panes, the system will pop up an error message for incompatible data types. See Figure 2. For examples, comparing Tables to a table.

The comparing results are displayed in the Project Difference Dialog window
when comparison is finished. Newly created items are highlighted in Green
color. Removed items are in Pink color. Modified items are in Yellow color. The
difference summary is displayed at the status bar at the bottom of the screen.
For table comparison, the numbers of records in tables are compared. The comparing result is displayed in an additional column named “Same # of Records?” (See Figure 4)
If the entire database is chosen for comparison, the Project Difference Dialog window will include the comparison results for all four object categories.
